What are girl rights?
Girl and women's rights are claims that girls and women can make worldwide, despite their economic status, race, sexuality, or background. In some situations, these rights are protected through laws or customs. Unfortunately, many times, girls and women are denied these rights—they are ostracized and oppressed instead.

Girls and women are oppressed throughout the world through two predominant evils:
Human trafficking  and Child marriage

The Gold Award project GREET (Girl Rights; Engage, Empower, Train) works against these practices and advocates for women equality by educating audiences in the Bay Area and across the world through a documentary film and this website, empowering girls and communities that are vulnerable to these practices, and training communities to spread this knowledge and work with pre-existing humanitarian organizations. Moreover, GREET also entails developing and distributing a curriculum that organizations will use to teach previously trafficked survivors and girls at risk basic survival skills and different occupations to be self-sustaining and permanently escape the vicious cycle of human trafficking.

As you navigate this website, examine the widespread issues of human trafficking and child marriage, take a closer look at Project GREET, and learn more about the creator of this project and website.

How does Project GREET help?

Picture

Engage

Engaging communities to think about, aid and empower girls. Beginning to build strong, powerful, permanent relationships between community members and organizations, and creating a central support system.
Picture

Empower

Empowering individuals in our community who are capable of providing help, as well as empowering girls and women who need help.
Picture

Train

Training our community on what girl rights entail, specific examples of how they are violated and how community members can help; all to bring about a greater knowledge and acceptance of girl rights and trigger a mass movement to garner more support for the cause.
