Joanne Westendorf has been a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years. As a troop and high adventure leader, she has deeply enjoyed seeing girls grow and change as they encounter and navigate new activities from knot tying to putting up tents in strong winds to mastering the creation and sale of crafts to assembling solar-powered toy cars. Under her mentorship, the girls have accomplished numerous community service activities, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold award projects. Over the years, she believes that she has learned at least as much from the girls as they have learned from her. Outside of Girl Scouts, Joanne has worked as a biological scientist in various laboratories and, more recently, as an accountant for a technology startup.
