Yves Boukari Traoré currently serves as the Director for Amnesty International Burkina Faso.
He was born in Côte d’Ivoire where he lived and studied. In 1982, he travelled to Burkina Faso, his parents’ country, where he has now been living for more than 30 years. Traoré studied Modern French and African Literatures at the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Literature and Sciences of Education, and a Professional Master’s in Projects and Programs Management. He has also taken various online courses—including courses in Human Rights Advocacy, and Terrorism and Counter Terrorism, amongst others. Traoré taught French and African Literatures in Private and Public High Schools in Burkina Faso from 1987 to 2000. Simultaneously, from 1992 to 2000, he began working for Amnesty International Burkina Faso at different posts—as a volunteer activist and Board member. In 2000 Traoré was hired as part-time Executive Director, and in 2006 began heading Amnesty International Burkina Faso as a full time Director. |
